The City of TukTuks

Bangkok

Uber is one of the best things if you are new at a place and do not know jack shit, it made it easy for me to get from the airport to my Airbnb flat. But hell, I will have to walk 6 floors up that will suck a little bit for the next month at least it will help my conditioning. :D

Pedro Sauer Seminar
No rest for the wicked, for me it was straight to the flat, grabbing my Kimono and meet up with Vara to go the Pedro Sauer Seminar at Bangkok Fight Lab. The gym that will be my first stop for the next week. I got my good twice a day training in and was great to meet all those people at the gym very laid back and friendly environment!

Oh yeah we went out some times saw the normal Thai Hookers, because you can not miss them they are almost everywhere, okay that’s a little bit exaggerated. And sorry guys, I did not enjoy a famous lady ping pong show, I do not want to have this image in my head. But there are plenty of other things to do, which is even suited for kids like me, no worries. Great night-markets, sky-bars, malls and much more!

My second gym for 3 weeks was EMAC, less expats and more Thais, the classes were a little bit smaller but the level was high, and the headcoach Niti makes sure you have a great time! Thailand is still in the development with it Jiu-jitsu scene.

Ask Vara
Overall Bangkok is a good place but for a whole month, not my kind of deal, so busy, you have to look out every time you cross the streets not to get hit, but about one thing I can not complain is the food, you find everything and I just like the amazing street food for around 2 dollars!

And thanks Vara for taking care of me!

Taiwan

Magid Seminar

My first Stop was Kaohsiung it isn’t that huge, just has around 1 million people living there. I was here before and visited Kaohsiung BJJ two years ago, that was one of the main reason why I came back. I just had such a good time last time. Freakish friendly people and always doing some crazy stuff!
Foodmarket
The Town, itself doesn’t take more than around 3 days to explore I would say even less if you go all “Chinese Tourist Mode” but it has some nice street art, a beach(not that good), nice forest and hiking, some ferry wheel on top of a mall. For sure the best part are the night markets, cheap and good food! Ah yeah side note, don’t expect too much in English not a lot of people can speak it in Taiwan.

After a month my next stop was Taipei, the Capitol. I took an easy and cheap bus trip up to Taipei. Much bigger city, more western more tourist more everything, and I would say it has more flair than Kaohsiung aswell. Had a wonderful traditional spa experience, got feed a crazy amount, took a little hike in 32 Grad (not so pleasant but the view was great). And again had very good rolls in Taipei BJJ, were I got destroyed in a couple of nice ways. :)

Time is over

Time is over

Not really. But I have to say good bye to Amerika, some new friends for life, a lot of *** whopping on the mats and awesome experiences and moments.

I had bad times like losing in the San Jose Open in the first round, gaining weight because of all those cheesecakes and ice cream. Okay, I had to do some work as a nurse to drain my own ear but at least I got some nice ear-protector.

But there tons of good memories with even better people, that is one of the best things about the community in BJJ, there are so many amazing people around that help each other and are just there to have a great time together.

Training itself was for me this time only at the Caio Terra Academy, where I even got the chance to help out to teach kids class, this is an amazing experience. Kids are just so happy and smiling all the time, we as adults should be more like kids and do not take everything so serious, life now and don’t just life to make money. Be happy.

And now as a real American with socks with the founder of America himself, I’m going to my next stop to Tokyo.
